Low Vision Services
What We Offer
Low Vision
Low vision care is for people with reduced vision caused by eye diseases such as macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and diabetes. Working together with Dr. Walter Rutkowsky, the goal of low vision care is to improve visual performance and make the maximum use of remaining vision.
A series of comprehensive tests and special refractive techniques will be used to determine the correct prescription and type of optical aids that best fit the patient’s needs.
Our practice offers enhanced distance vision aids that include hand-held telescopes, mounted telescopes and biopic telescopes. Enhanced reading and near vision aids include hand magnifiers, prism reading glasses, hand-held video magnifiers and desktop video magnifiers known as a CCTV. Corning CPF glare control lenses and special task lighting are also available.
Ray Ban Meta glasses
Rutkowsky Eyecare now offers Meta glasses.
For people with low vision, the Meta glasses do not restore vision but with two tiny cameras on the front of the frame (not noticeable), it can describe what is in front of you, read printed texts (mail, bills, menus, labels).
The Meta glasses can make phone calls and send text messages. The Meta voice and microphone are in the temples; basically, a video-to-voice device not dependent on the patient’s vision.
Listen to music, capture pictures, chat with Meta AI, send text/voice messages and make phone calls hands free, live translation to help you connect with people who speak a different language.
